Electricity distribution company TEPCO announced that at least 1,550 households in Kanto experienced a power outage as of 13:00 local time. It was announced that Typhoon Ampil was moving towards Chiba state off the coast of Hachijo Island, located 287 kilometers south of Tokyo, as of noon today. Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) stated that the typhoon will approach the Kanto region tonight and increase its impact. It was emphasized that severe storms and rainfall are expected in the capital Tokyo, as well as in the states of Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba and Kanagawa. Authorities warned citizens to be prepared for floods and landslides.
