At least 990 flights scheduled to operate from different states were cancelled. Services on the Tohoku, Joetsu, Hokuriku, Yamagata, Tokaido and Sanyo high-speed rail lines were suspended. While there were cancellations and delays on many local train lines across the country, some highways were also closed to traffic for security reasons.

1,550 Households Left Without Electricity
Strong winds, which were effective in different parts of the Kanto region at noon, toppled trees, electric poles and signs. Electricity distribution company TEPCO announced that at least 1,550 households in Kanto experienced a power outage as of 13:00 local time. It was reported that floods occurred in some regions due to heavy rains.
It Will Increase Its Effect Tonight
It was announced that Typhoon Ampil was moving towards Chiba state off the coast of Hachijo Island, located 287 kilometers south of Tokyo, as of noon today. Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) stated that the typhoon will approach the Kanto region tonight and increase its impact. It was emphasized that severe storms and rainfall are expected in the capital Tokyo, as well as in the states of Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba and Kanagawa. Authorities warned citizens to be prepared for floods and landslides.
