Serim said in a statement on Al Jazeera television that he accepted the invitation and visited Qatar after two years, and that he was very happy about this visit. Serim thanked the Qatari authorities for their hospitality and shared that he had been in regular contact with Lolwah Rashid Al Khater, Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding humanitarian aid to Gaza since March.

Regarding the role of Turkey and Qatar in the aid sent to Gaza, Serim said, “Since the beginning of the crisis, Turkey and Qatar have undertaken a significant portion of the aid sent to Gaza.”

Serim stated that they exchanged views on regional developments and humanitarian aid, especially for Gaza, during their visit to Qatar, and that it was decided to establish a joint mechanism between relevant institutions such as the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

Serim emphasized that the aim of the “High Strategic Committee” meeting to be held in Istanbul in October or November under the leadership of the leaders of the two countries is to increase humanitarian aid and implement new projects, and stated that Turkey has sent 56 thousand tons of humanitarian aid materials to the region to date.

Serim drew attention to the bad situation in Gaza and said, “There is a huge destruction in Gaza that has never been seen before.”

Türkiye-Qatar Relations

Türkiye-Katar İlişkileri

My series emphasized that Turkey-Qatar relations are developing rapidly and have a strategic character based on mutual trust. Noting that the relations between the two countries are based on feelings of brotherhood, Serim said that progress has been made in every field.

Stating that the two countries are in constant communication, Serim said that mutual high-level contacts and meetings continue.

The Situation in Gaza

Gazze'deki Durum

My series stated that the painful events in Gaza were heartbreaking and emphasized the importance of cooperation with regional countries. “The Palestinian cause is a common denominator for all of us. We will not leave our Palestinian brothers alone,” Serim said, adding that the bloodshed in Gaza must be stopped and that the conflicts must not spread to the rest of the region.

Serim stated that the UNSC decision to establish a ceasefire in Gaza was an important step, and that they welcomed the decisions taken by the ICJ regarding Israel. Emphasizing that they would work for a two-state solution, Serim stated that Turkey supported mediation efforts and defended the Palestinian people’s right to establish a state.
