Mossad and Shin-Bet Delegation in Cairo
According to local media reports, a delegation consisting of David Barnea, the director of Israel’s secret intelligence service Mossad, and Ronen Bar, the head of the domestic intelligence agency Shin-Bet, arrived in Cairo, Egypt. The delegation will reportedly hold important meetings with Egyptian and US officials, and discuss the reopening of the Philadelphi Corridor and the Rafah Border Crossing.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had stipulated that the Israeli army’s occupation of the Philadelphi Corridor would continue before the prisoner swap negotiations. However, Egypt opposes this occupation and criticizes the situation. As is known, the Israeli army captured the Rafah Border Crossing on May 7 and then occupied the Philadelphi Corridor.
This occupation of the Philadelphi Corridor and the closure of the Rafah Border Crossing have caused a significant decrease in humanitarian aid reaching Gaza. This situation has also made it impossible to evacuate the seriously injured and sick who need to be treated abroad. This issue, which has drawn the attention of the international community, is further deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
