SERDAR UNSAL (IGDIR)
The Iğdır Local Products and Kitchen Workshop program, organized in cooperation with the Serhat Development Agency (SERKA) and the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, attracted great attention. The program was held in the Iğdır National Garden and Iğdır’s unique geographically indicated products and rich cultural heritage were introduced through various workshops.
Participants showed great interest in the event, especially the production of stone meatballs, which are unique to Iğdır. Deputy Governor Ömer Said Karakaş and Provincial Police Chief Erden Sakarya also attended the program. In the event where the products of local women entrepreneur cooperatives were introduced, the workshop teaching the weaving techniques of traditional Karabakh rugs and the workshop on making dolls with local clothes were also met with interest by the participants.
Akile Cangel received a great acclaim by introducing her dolls in traditional costumes. In addition, a father and daughter participant won first place in the apricot eating competition. As a result of the applications to determine the best apricot grower organized by the Iğdır Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Ahmet Şahin won first place, İbrahim Halil Şahin won second place and Yaver Arat won third place.
As emphasized by Serhat Development Agency Iğdır Investment Support Office Coordinator Ramazan Mutlu Doğaner and Iğdır Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ahmet Tingiş in their speeches, the aim of the event is to introduce Iğdır’s apricots, local dishes and handicrafts and thus encourage the production of Iğdır farmers.
The children, who added color to the program with their apricot motif dresses, conveyed to the visitors the unique features of apricots grown in Iğdır.
