Elections Reached 2nd Round
In the presidential elections held in Iran, no candidate passed the 50 percent threshold, and the reformist candidate who received the most votes, Masoud Pezeshkian, and the conservative candidate in second place, Said Jalili, advanced to the second round. While 24,535,185 votes were cast nationwide, Pezeshkian, who received the most votes, received 10,415,191 votes, while Jalili received 9,473,298 votes. The Supreme Election Center announced that the voter turnout was 40 percent and that the second round would be held on Friday next week.
