The continuous heavy rains in Erzurum last week caused a flood disaster in the Oltu district. AK Party Erzurum Deputies Selami Altunok, Mehmet Emin Öz and Abdürrahim Fırat made inspections in the flood-hit Çatak Neighborhood.
The heavy rainfall, which has continued especially for the last 3 days, has caused great damage in Çatak Neighborhood. Some bridges in the neighborhood were destroyed and houses were flooded due to flood waters. In addition, approximately 50 beehives were damaged by flood waters and neighborhood roads were partially closed to traffic.
The AK Party delegation visited the Çatak Neighborhood affected by the flood disaster together with Oltu Mayor Adem Çelebi. Mayor Çelebi stated, “Today, we are experiencing our second flood disaster. We had cleaned the stream after the flood two days ago, but the flood disaster occurred again. The flood destroyed bridges and damaged roads. We will meet with the DSİ regional director and start work to reconstruct the region.”
The residents of Çatak Neighborhood expressed their fear with the following words: “We have not been able to sleep at night for a week because of our fear. We have never experienced such a disaster in our lives.”
