Fire Breaks Out on Gallipoli Peninsula

A fire broke out in a forest area near the village of Büyükanafarta on the historical Gallipoli Peninsula of Çanakkale for an unknown reason. The fire was recorded as a significant event that threatened the natural beauty of the region.

After the fire was noticed, Çanakkale Forestry Regional Directorate teams took action quickly and were dispatched to the scene. The teams launched an intensive extinguishing effort from both air and land in order to bring the fire under control.

While the teams that arrived at the scene were fighting the fire, two forestry workers were injured when they collided with a car while driving a pickup truck with the license plate 17 AAC 399. The injured workers were taken to Eceabat State Hospital by 112 Emergency Health teams. It was learned that the general health condition of the injured was good. Some forestry workers affected by the smoke were also treated at the same hospital.

Gendarmerie teams, provided support by distributing water to workers working in the area where firefighting is ongoing. The 57th Regiment Martyrs’ Memorial and Conkbayırı locations, which are among the areas affected by the fire, were temporarily closed to visitors. The teams’ extinguishing efforts in the region continue uninterrupted.
