Borsa Istanbul Daily Index Evaluation

The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul gained 0.15 percent today, closing the day at 11,172.75 points. This value was recorded as the highest daily closing of all time. The index increased by 16.55 points compared to the previous closing, while the total trading volume was 110.8 billion liras.

The banking index lost 1.41 percent, while the holding index gained 0.83 percent. Among the sector indices, the biggest gainer was the communications sector with 3.60 percent, while the biggest loser was the financial leasing factoring sector with 3.56 percent.

It is stated that the week started cautiously in global stock markets due to the uncertainties created by President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the US presidential election. At a time when central banks have begun to reduce tight monetary policies to combat inflation, it is seen that the US election results continue to affect asset pricing.

Tomorrow, the interest rate decision to be announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey at the MPC meeting and the consumer confidence index will be followed domestically. Abroad, the Richmond Fed industrial index, second-hand housing sales in the US, and the consumer confidence index in the Eurozone will be prominent. Technically, the resistance levels in the BIST 100 index are 11,250 and 11,350 points, while the support levels are 11,000 and 10,900.

Economists participating in AA Finance’s expectations survey expect the CBRT to keep the policy rate unchanged at 50 percent. The median of economists’ year-end policy rate expectations was calculated as 45 percent.
