Minister Yumaklı: Fire Fight Continues

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made a statement about the forest fire that occurred in Eceabat district of Çanakkale. Yumaklı stated that the firefighting was carried out by 540 personnel, with the support of 94 water trucks and work machines and night vision helicopters. He stated that 22 of the 42 forest fires that occurred throughout Turkey occurred within the forest and 20 occurred outside the forest.

Minister Yumaklı emphasized that the fires in Burdur, Çanakkale, Sakarya, Manisa and Uşak were in the “high risk group” and announced that the fires in Eceabat and Uşak were continuing, but the others were under control. Stating that the fire in Eceabat is likely to affect an area of ​​300 hectares, Yumaklı stated that the fight is continuing from the air with 9 planes and 6 helicopters.

Minister Yumaklı also announced that entrances to the Gallipoli Historical Area of ​​the Gallipoli Wars were stopped in the fight against fires, and stated that the teams in the region continued to fight the fire with all their resources.
