US UN Representative: “Our Position in Favor of a Two-State Solution is Clear”

Linda Thomas Greenfield, the US Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), commented on the proposal “opposing the establishment of a Palestinian state” that was passed in the Israeli parliament. Greenfield made a statement on the subject and said, “Our position is in favor of a two-state solution.”

Greenfield, who answered questions from reporters at a press conference at the UN, said there had been some discussions about plans for after the attacks in Gaza ended, but he could not share details. He also said, “We have to focus on the humanitarian situation today,” stressing that there is time to address the next steps.

Regarding the motion “opposing the establishment of a Palestinian state” passed in the Israeli parliament, Greenfield stated that he would not comment on the issue directly, saying, “Our position is in favor of a two-state solution.”

Greenfield stated that peace cannot be built if Israelis and Palestinians cannot live side by side. The motion passed by the Israeli parliament claimed that “the establishment of a Palestinian state would pose a threat to the state of Israel and its citizens.”
