Türkiye Takes Steps Against Israel’s Genocidal Policy

Türkiye, İsrail'in Soykırım Politikasına Karşı Adım Attı

Turkey stands out as a pioneer among countries taking concrete steps against Israel’s genocidal policies against Palestine. In particular, Turkey’s official application to join the genocide case filed by South Africa at the International Court of Justice is considered an important development on the international stage.

This situation was also followed by the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera television, and the statements of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Justice Commission Chairman Cüneyt Yüksel and Turkey’s Ambassador to The Hague Selçuk Ünal were broadcast live. The broadcast emphasized that Turkey’s application for intervention was supported by statements indicating that “international pressure on Israel to end its brutality in Gaza has increased.” It was reported that Turkey’s request would strengthen the case against Israel.

Turkey’s Move in International Media

The British news agency Reuters reported Turkey’s important step with the headline “Turkey has made an official application to join the genocide case against Israel.” The news item gave wide coverage to Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s statement that “the international community must do what is necessary to stop the genocide.”

The US-based Politico magazine reviewed Turkey’s official application within the framework of Foreign Minister Fidan’s statements. Fidan’s striking words, “Emboldened by the impunity for its crimes, Israel is killing more and more innocent Palestinians every day,” were highlighted.

Germany’s NTV television evaluated Turkey’s move with the words of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, as a “historical step.” The news provided comprehensive information about the process of the genocide case filed by South Africa.
