Traffic Density at Bolu Mountain Pass
The Bolu Mountain pass of the Anatolian Motorway has been closed due to the work carried out in the direction of Istanbul. This situation causes heavy traffic flow on the Bolu Mountain section of the D-100 highway.
In order to prevent landslide risk at the Bolu Mountain Tunnel crossing on the highway, the tunnel was extended by 67 meters and maintenance and repair works on the viaducts started on July 31. For this reason, heavy traffic is occurring in the Abant Junction, Elmalık , Bolu Mountain Police House, Bakacak, Darkindere and Kaynaşlı sections due to the vehicles directed from the Abant Junction to the D-100 highway.
As drivers exit the highway earlier to avoid traffic congestion, congestion also occurs in the Bolu city center, Gölköy Junction and Yumrukaya Junction areas. However, vehicles entering the highway from the Kaynaşlı Toll Booths can continue on their way without any problems.
Interruptions in transportation due to occasional broken down vehicles or damaged traffic accidents are restored to normal with the rapid intervention of the teams. Highways and police teams are ready at certain points on the route.
The teams are issuing the following warnings to drivers:
- Don’t make wrong assumptions,
- They must comply with the following distance,
- Not driving for long periods of time.
Ahmet Hamdi Yılmaz, who traveled from Rize to Istanbul with his family, said, “Normally, we use the highway all the time, but due to this work, we entered the D-100. There is congestion here and our speed has slowed down .”
Aydın Yılmaz, who was traveling from Giresun to Istanbul, also stated that he encountered heavy traffic on the road and said, “We are moving very slowly. Probably because it is the weekend, the crowds of people going to their hometowns for holiday and those returning affect this situation.”
