Halil İbrahim Demirkanlı, who struggled with diseases such as typhoid, malaria, and rickets at a young age, managed to hold on to life by going through difficult illness processes. Born in 1929 in the Ortahisar district of Trabzon, Demirkanlı is a name that devoted his life to sports despite all the difficulties.

Demirkanlı became interested in athletics from a young age and became one of the most well-known athletes in Trabzon. Participating in many competitions as a licensed athlete of the İdmangücü team, Demirkanlı made a name for himself by winning dozens of medals.

After retiring, Demirkanlı turned to swimming and continues to swim for kilometers every morning, challenging young people despite being 98 years old. Demirkanlı, who attributes his healthy life to sports and a healthy diet, continues to surprise those around him.
