The theft took place in Yusufpaşa District of Eyyübiye district. Taking advantage of the ongoing renovation works in the church, the thief broke through the wall and stole the bronze candlesticks. When church officials noticed that the candlesticks were missing in the morning, they reported the situation to the police. Police teams determined the identity of the thief by examining the security camera records and caught him in a short time.
Value of Stolen Works and Conclusion
The stolen bronze candlesticks were worth approximately 50 thousand TL. The thief sold the candlesticks to an antique dealer for 250 TL. However, he was found by police teams and returned to his owner. Church officials thanked the police teams for their quick and effective response.
