An Important Event Was Held at Dicle University in Support of Palestine

Filistin'e Destek İçin Dicle Üniversitesinde Önemli Bir Etkinlik Gerçekleşti

Approximately 300 students from various provinces of Turkey studying at Dicle University (DU) within the scope of the summer school program came together under the coordination of academics to support Palestine. Students wrote letters, poems and drew pictures to draw attention to the massacres and destruction in Palestine as a result of Israeli attacks.

In order to reveal the human tragedy in Palestine, a photography exhibition presenting boycott products as well as images on the theme of massacre and destruction was prepared after 4 weeks of intensive work at the Ziya Gökalp Faculty of Education. The exhibition titled “Don’t let children be killed, say ‘Stop’ to oppression” aims to attract the attention of citizens with activities that students will hold in different places in the city.

In his statement to AA correspondent, Mahmut Altunhan, lecturer at the Department of Basic Education within the faculty, stated that they are carrying out social awareness projects with students at the university to support Palestine. Altunhan explained the main purpose of the exhibition as follows: “Students reflected the effects and memories of the war in their paintings. Their families also supported them in this process; their younger siblings also drew pictures and expressed their feelings by writing poems and letters. ‘We are with you, my Gazan brothers’, ‘Gaza child “They expressed their support with messages such as ‘, ‘Palestinian child’. The letters and poems they received were very meaningful. Additionally, the students expressed their feelings and thoughts on a board.”

Stating that they carried out activities in many different fields with approximately 300 students to draw attention to the oppression in Palestine, Altunhan emphasized the importance of the message given by the students together with their families. “Sincere sentences coming from the heart and letters transcribed are very valuable to us. Our wish is for the war there to end as soon as possible. A world in which thousands of children and women lose their lives is unacceptable. We wish the war to “end as soon as possible, and we will constantly express our reaction in this sense.” he said
