CHP Deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu, in his statement about the fire between Diyarbakır and Mardin, stated that the perception of the citizens in terms of the size of the fire and the place where it occurred was that it was intervened late. Tanrıkulu said, “If there had been a correct and timely intervention, perhaps our citizens would not have been involved in an intervention that would have sacrificed themselves.”
Fire Investigation and Call for Assistance
Tanrıkulu emphasized the negative effects of the privatization of electricity service by drawing attention to the opinions of the local people that the cause of the fire in the region could be electricity transmission lines. Tanrikulu called on the Ministry of Justice and the Diyarbakir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and stated that an effective investigation should be carried out regarding the fire. He also emphasized the need to support farmers damaged by fire.
CHP Deputy Tanrıkulu announced that they will bring the incident to the agenda of the Parliament and that they will follow up the issue by calling the authorities.
