Unal Cinar’s Unique Cologne Collection
Ünal Çınar, who has been collecting various colognes from all over the world for 25 years in the Konak district of İzmir, amazes everyone with his collection. Çınar, who has collected hundreds of colognes of all colors and varieties without getting discouraged and tired, has added more than 3 thousand colognes to his collection so far.
Colognes from 1886
Ünal Çınar, who exhibits his fragrant colognes in the 100-year-old Bahçeliler Inn, even has colognes and bottles dating back to 1886 in his collection. This priceless collection, which includes the first colognes of Turkey, fascinates those who see it and takes them on a historical journey.
The collection also includes interesting colognes featuring pistols, cars, roosters, cartoon characters and various animal figures. This rich content takes each visitor to a different world.
Drawing attention to the difficulty of collecting thousands of colognes, Ünal Çınar stated that he did not sell these valuable works and only focused on expanding his collection.
The Goal Is to Open a Museum
Çınar stated that he sometimes had financial difficulties and that his real goal was to open a museum. “A friend of mine brought me cologne from Balıkesir 25 years ago. From that day on, this passion started and I have been collecting for 25 years. I currently have between 2,500 and 3,000 cologne bottles. “My friends from all over Turkey bring me cologne, and sometimes I buy it from antique markets,” he said.
Çınar added that they were doing research on opening a museum and were expecting support from the municipalities and the governor’s office. “I also have a cologne bottle from 1886 in my collection. There are nearly 80 manufacturers in Izmir in particular and their cologne bottles are also in my collection. Cologne is our national scent. We always offer cologne in sickness, in health and on holidays ,” he said, drawing attention to the importance of national values.
