Hamas’ Statements About Its Prisoners
Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, released a previously shot video recording of 25-year-old Danino, one of the 6 Israeli prisoners whose bodies were reportedly found in a tunnel in Rafah city of the Gaza Strip on September 1. In the video, Danino says, “I was taken prisoner from the Nova Music Festival, which was held in a region close to the Gaza Strip on October 7. I am now a prisoner of Hamas and I am in extremely difficult conditions , there is no food, water and electricity.”
Pointing out that Israel’s bombardments continue non-stop, Danino said, “The Israeli government is trying to kill the captives one by one with unsuccessful hostage rescue operations. They completely failed to protect the Israelis on October 7.” Danino emphasized that this situation should end as soon as possible.
Addressing his family and the public, the Israeli prisoner said, “The Israelis must do everything to fulfill the prisoner exchange agreement and bring us back home alive. Do not neglect us. I have no other wish than to return home.” Danino stated that every effort should be made to exchange prisoners. “Please get us out of here alive because no one will survive (due to Israeli bombardment),” he said.
The Israeli army stated in a statement on September 1 that the bodies of 6 Israeli prisoners were found in a tunnel in Rafah city of the Gaza Strip. Hamas, on the other hand, stated that these 6 Israeli prisoners lost their lives “in the Israeli bombardment that massacred the Palestinian people with American weapons.”
The platform formed by the families of Israeli prisoners held in Gaza had recently held Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “who insists on continuing the occupation of the Philadelphi Corridor on the Gaza-Egypt border line and undermines prisoner exchange agreements”, responsible for the deaths of 6 Israeli prisoners.
