Discovered by a farmer in the Feke district, Batodonoides Vanhouteni is known as the smallest mammal that has ever lived. Veterinarian Tevfik Yüceli stated that this rare creature seen in the region is exciting. Yüceli called on citizens to raise awareness about the protection of such creatures.
Batodonoides Vanhouteni , It is considered one of the oldest mammal species in the world, having lived 53 million years ago. Weighing only 1.3 grams, this creature has teeth smaller than 1 millimeter. Although its anatomical structure resembles that of a mouse, it has a smaller structure.
Veterinarian Yüceli said, “This creature is the first mammal species to have lived on earth. Its first sighting in the Feke district is a great source of excitement for the region. It is important for citizens to protect such creatures and report them to the Nature “Conservation and National Parks teams.”
Yüceli emphasized that Batodonoides Vanhouteni is harmless and warned, “Although this creature resembles a mouse, it is a different species. It does not harm nature. Therefore, when you see such creatures, you should protect them and inform expert teams.”
