Security measures were taken before the Pride March to be held in Taksim Square within the framework of the events organized by the Governorship of Istanbul within the scope of the 10th Istanbul Trans Pride Week.
Entrances to Taksim Square are Closed
Due to the Pride March, pedestrian entrances around Taksim Square were closed and surrounded by police barricades. The roads and side streets leading to the square were also closed with police barriers.
Transportation Stopped
Metro and funicular lines were also among the affected means of transportation. Taksim and Şişhane stations of the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line and the F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular line were temporarily closed by the decision of the Governorship of Istanbul. This situation also attracted the attention of tourists and they were prevented from entering the square.
Tourists and citizens who were not allowed into the square could not enter the square within the scope of security measures.
