Çorum Municipality placed an impressive collage in Hürriyet Square, which includes the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinian flag, as well as the figures of mothers and children who were martyred as a result of the attacks of the occupying Israel. In this meaningful event, children passing by on the sidewalk were given brushes and asked to paint the figures in the collage according to their imagination. Mayor of Corum Halil Ibrahim Ashgin , supported the children by painting with them at the event. Aşgın stated in his statement to reporters that the main purpose of this event was to give a message of peace to the world. Recalling that the first written peace treaty in the world was signed with Egypt by the Hittites of Çorum, Aşgın said, “We wanted to make our voices heard with a different event in the lands of peace.”
Aşgın stated that they created a basis with photographs and images taken from sources such as Anadolu Agency, Ihlas News Agency and TRT expressing the oppression in Gaza, and said, “We wanted to spread this awareness to society by creating it together with children.”
Stating that the collage includes details such as the sad mothers and fathers in Gaza, collapsed buildings and the white dove as a symbol of peace and freedom, Aşgın added, “We are painting these figures together with our fellow citizens. In this way, we want to make everyone feel the awareness. May God grant us the freedom of Jerusalem, Palestine, Gaza and East Turkestan as soon as possible.”
