Significant changes are coming to the driving licence exam in order to raise the education standards of driver candidates. With the new regulation, the right to try parking maneuvers will increase and the exam period will be extended.
Proposed Changes in the Regulation
- Exam Duration Will Be Extended:It is planned to extend the exam duration to 40 minutes. In this way, it is aimed to train better drivers.
- An End to the “Joker” App:With the new regulation, identity verification will become mandatory in exams and “joker” attempts will be prevented.
- Parking Maneuver Softens:There will be changes to the parking rule between two vehicles during the exams and trainees will be given the right to try one.
- Special Arrangements for the Disabled:Disabled driver candidates will be given the opportunity to receive training and take exams in their own vehicles.
- Specific Questions for Electric Vehicles:With the new regulation, there will be special questions in training and exams for electric vehicles.
- ‘U’ Turn Maneuver to be Added:During driving tests, a ‘U’ turn maneuver will also be required for motorcycle and car driving.

Murat Tekin, the President of the Istanbul Driving Schools and Trainers Federation, stated that the changes in the regulation aimed to raise driver training standards. He also said that the arrangements made for disabled driver candidates were a positive step. He stated that with the spread of electric vehicles, these vehicles will also be used in training and new regulations are expected accordingly.
