New Maternity Hospital Opened in the Capital Tunis

The Vesile Bourguiba Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital, the first fully equipped maternity hospital in the capital Tunis, was put into service with an opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Tunisia Ahmet Misbah Demircan, Tunisian Ministry of Health Public Health Director Tarık Bin Nasır, Tunisian TIKA Coordinator Ali Fuat Cebeci, Tunisian authorities and hospital staff.

Ambassador Demircan: “I am particularly pleased to contribute to a hospital that provides services to women and children,” he said. Tunisian Public Health Director Ben Nasser also stated that they were happy to be a part of a project that will develop relations in the field of health between the two countries, adding, “Such projects will pave the way for different collaborations in the field of health .”

The Hospital Performs 8 Thousand Births a Year

  • Vesile Bourguiba Maternity and Obstetrics Hospital is the first and largest maternity hospital in the country. Around 20 thousand examinations and approximately 8 thousand births are carried out annually.

Cebeci: “TIKA played an important role in the modernization of the service rooms within the hospital. The renewed sections will increase the service quality of the hospital,” he said. Cebeci, who stated that TIKA has carried out various projects in Tunisia since 2012, said, “We have undertaken many projects in the field of health in Tunisia. We will continue our work for the continuation of these projects.”
