Netanyahu’s Warning to Hezbollah

Speaking at the opening of a cabinet meeting at the Defense Ministry complex in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that they had prevented the attack planned by Hezbollah with rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). However, he noted that this did not end the incident completely.

Netanyahu stressed that the Israeli army had neutralized thousands of short-range rockets that Hezbollah was preparing to launch at military targets in northern Israel. “All of the drones that Hezbollah planned to send to the center of the country as a strategic point were also intercepted,” he clarified.

Addressing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Lebanese Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, Netanyahu said: “Nasrallah in Beirut and Khamenei in Tehran should know that this is a step towards changing the situation in the north and enabling the residents of this region to return to their homes. I repeat, this is not the end of the story.”

The Israeli army had announced that it had launched a “preemptive strike” on Lebanon, claiming that Hezbollah was planning to target the country. Following these developments, Hezbollah announced that it had launched an attack against Israel in retaliation for the assassination of one of its top commanders, Fuad Shukur, in Beirut on July 30. Hezbollah stated that it had hit Israeli army targets with 320 rockets and a number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during this retaliation.

The Israeli army claimed that around 100 warplanes took part in the strikes on Lebanon this morning and that 40 of the missile launchers positioned to target northern and central Israel were destroyed.
