Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya made a statement about the traffic accidents that occurred in the first 2 days of Eid al-Adha. In his post on his social media account, Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that the Police and Gendarmerie traffic teams took the necessary precautions for the safety of citizens during the holiday. Yerlikaya stated that 726 traffic accidents occurred in 24 hours on Sunday, June 16, the second day of the holiday, and that 11 people died and 1295 people were injured in these accidents.
Measurements and Statistics Taken During the Eid Holiday
Minister Yerlikaya stated that traffic teams inspected 289 thousand 700 vehicles, and in these inspections, speed and radar procedures were applied to 18 thousand 889 vehicles and other procedures were applied to 17 thousand 227 vehicles. Asking citizens to obey traffic rules, Yerlikaya emphasized that excessive speed should be avoided.
