Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced the effects of the fires in Diyarbakır and Mardin. Minister Yumaklı stated that 7 thousand 900 decares of agricultural land in Diyarbakır and 7 thousand decares of agricultural land in Mardin were damaged as a result of the fire.
Fire Damage in Diyarbakir
Minister Yumaklı stated that 7 thousand 900 decares of agricultural land was damaged in Köksalan, Bağacık, Yazçiçi and Ağaçsever neighborhoods in Diyarbakır’s Çınar district. While 924 small cattle perished in the fire, 83 animals were sent to the Meat and Milk Institution for slaughter. Additionally, a tractor and 14 irrigation facilities were burned.
Damages Occurred in Mardin
7 thousand decares of agricultural land were damaged in Yetkinler, Yücebağ neighborhoods and Kelek hamlet in Mardin’s Mazıdağı district. Irrigation equipment was also partially damaged in the fire, which also affected the unharvested wheat field.
Support Studies for Farmers
Ministry teams continue their work to support farmers after the fire. Support is provided to farmers who are damaged in the rehabilitation of agricultural lands and animal production. Additionally, nature conservation activities will be carried out to restore biodiversity in burned areas.
A Total of 14 Thousand 900 Decares of Agricultural Area was Affected as a Result of the Fire
Minister Yumaklı stated that a total of 14 thousand 900 decares of agricultural land was affected by the fire and emphasized that all institutions of the state were mobilized to heal the wounds in the region.
