Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Continues to Support Stray Animals

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continued its work for homeless animals and provided a warm home to 500 homeless animals in the first 6 months of the year. Additionally, approximately 20 thousand homeless animals were treated and examined and nearly 15 thousand animals were sterilized. Municipal authorities advise citizens not to buy animals, but to adopt them from shelters.

There are dogs of different breeds in PAKO

Umut Polat, Veterinary Affairs Branch Manager, who works within the Veterinary Affairs Public Health Department, stated that dogs of different breeds are sheltered, especially in the PAKO Stray Animals Social Life Campus. He stated that in addition to the care and treatment of animals, activities are organized for their socialization in the facilities.

Veterinary Affairs Branch Manager Umut Polat points out that there are many animals waiting for adoption and invites citizens to visit shelters and adopt homeless animals. Polat emphasizes that animals will be happy through adoption and that it is important to reduce the stray animal population.

While Izmir Metropolitan Municipality ensures that homeless animals find warm homes with its work, it also calls on citizens to support stray animals by raising awareness.
