Coming together with CHP Izmir Provincial Directorate administrators and party members, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay emphasized the Republic of Turkey and the values represented by the Republican People’s Party.
Tugay met with the CHP Izmir Provincial Organization at Nefes Restaurant ahead of the CHP Regulation Congress to be held on September 6-8. The meeting was also attended by former CHP deputy chairs, former deputies and former district mayors.
Chairman Tugay thanked the party members for their support and said, “We represent the social democratic needs of the age of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s party. The Republic of Turkey is essential for us and our struggle is not to deviate from the line of the Republic.”
Acknowledgements and Highlights
At the meeting where the issues of term office in the party, primary elections, quotas and memberships were discussed, Tugay said, “I insistently defend the two-term rule. It is not something our consensus would accept for people who have not served in the party for a long time to be candidates.”
Emphasizing that politics should serve ideals, Tugay said, “We must come together in common sense and implement the ideals that are vital for the country and humanity.”
