Heavy Rain and Storm Expected in Istanbul
The Istanbul Regional Forecast and Early Warning Center of the General Directorate of Meteorology announced that heavy thunderstorms are expected in the west of Istanbul, especially in the Silivri and Çatalca districts, as well as Tekirdağ and Kırklareli, in the afternoon. It warned citizens to be careful and take the necessary precautions as this situation could cause various negativities.

- Disruptions in transportation
- Strong wind
- Hailfall
Following this warning, the sudden downpour, strong winds and hail in the Marmaraereğlisi district of Tekirdağ negatively affected life in the region. The rapid darkening of the weather along with the rain caused citizens to take shelter in closed areas.
Effects of Strong Wind:
- The roofs of some buildings were blown away.
- Trees fell.
- Playgrounds in the children’s park were damaged.
- Tables and chairs from businesses on the beach were overturned.
Heavy rain caused some streets and avenues to fill with water, and drivers had difficulty moving in traffic. During this period, which was also affected by hail, strong winds caused power lines to fail. Power outages occurred in a large part of the district. Teams quickly started working to fix the faults.
