France Takes International Court of Justice Decision into Consideration
French Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Christophe Lemoine said in a statement at the ministry’s weekly press conference that France took into account the decision of the International Court of Justice on July 19. The decision addresses the legal consequences of Israeli policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.
France Urges Israel to Abide by International Law
Lemoine said, “France calls on Israel to comply with all its obligations under international law, recalling its commitment to the International Court of Justice.” Emphasizing that his country opposes Israel’s seizure of Palestinian lands in Jerusalem and the West Bank, Lemoine stated that they are persistently calling on the Israeli government to reverse its recent decisions.
France Express Concerns
Christophe Lemoine said, “We are seriously concerned about the deterioration of the situation in the occupied West Bank,” condemning the decisions taken by Israel, including the seizure of 1,200 hectares of land, and that the situation poses a threat to peace.
