Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar made important statements about energy policies during his visit to Trabzon. Stating that energy demand is increasing in Turkey, Minister Bayraktar emphasized the issues of energy supply security and external dependency.

Referring to Turkey’s renewable energy potential, Minister Bayraktar stated that solar, wind, hydraulic and geothermal resources can play an important role in meeting the country’s energy needs.

Minister Bayraktar also drew attention to the need for efficient use of energy and stated that they had set an investment target of 20 billion dollars within the scope of Turkey’s national energy efficiency action plan.

Providing information about the targets of increasing the installed power in solar and wind, Minister Bayraktar outlined the need to increase efficiency in energy consumption.

During Minister Bayraktar’s visit to Trabzon, information was shared on the discovery of natural gas and oil production in Sakarya. Stating that Turkey has begun to reap the fruits of its work in the field of energy, Minister Bayraktar emphasized that they aim to further utilize the country’s domestic resources in energy production.

He also stated that Turkey’s projects in the field of nuclear energy continue and that their goal is to reach 20 thousand megawatts of nuclear power by 2050.

While touching upon issues of strategic importance for Turkey’s energy independence and economic power, Minister Bayraktar called on industrialists to develop models that can meet their own energy needs.
