1. Pazar County District
The first drowning case in Rize’s Pazar district occurred in Hamidiye District. A citizen named Avtandil Tavartkiladze (45), a Georgian national, went into the sea to cool off. However, he was caught up in the current and began to drift. Upon the notice of the surrounding people, AFAD, coast guard, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, despite all the interventions, Tavartkiladze could not be saved.
2. Ardeşen District District
In the second drowning incident that occurred in Fatih District of Ardeşen district, Georgian national Alvarce Tavatgadze (50) went into the sea and remained motionless on the water. Upon citizens’ notice, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. However, despite all the interventions, Tavatgadze could not be saved.
Funeral Procedures
While the body of Avtandil Tavartkiladze, who lost his life in the accident, was taken to the morgue of Kaçkar State Hospital, the body of Alvarce Tavatgadze, who lost his life, was sent to Rize Forensic Medicine Center.
