Burhan and Amina J. Mohammed Interview
According to a statement from the Sovereign Council, Sudan’s military leader General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, in the east of the country Port Sudanin his office in the city Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. During the meeting, Burhan gave a detailed account of the current situation in the country to Deputy Secretary-General Mohammed and the government’s efforts to open safe corridors to deliver humanitarian aid to citizens. Burhan also called on the UN to exert more pressure on the “rebels (HDK)” who are obstructing aid delivery and seizing aid convoys.
Amina J. Mohammed stated that she made this visit to Sudan in order to follow the developments in the country more closely. Stating that she welcomed the cooperation of the Sudanese government in distributing food to those in need, Mohammed said, “Resolving the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and rescuing Sudanese people trapped in conflict zones requires the cooperation of all actors in the humanitarian field.”emphasized.
