Court Sentences Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s Wife to Death

A court in Iraq has handed down a death sentence to one of the wives of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the deceased leader of the Islamic State. The ruling was based on her involvement in crimes committed against the Yazidi religious minority.

More than 10,000 Yazidis were killed, and 6,000 were captured by ISIS fighters in what the United Nations has recognized as a genocide.
