Brazil Opens Its Third Consulate General in Mainland China in Chengdu

On June 28, Brazil officially opened its third consulate general in mainland China. The new consulate general is located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province in the country’s southwest. The consulate, which covers Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan and Shaanxi, will primarily provide consular services to citizens in these regions.

Cezar Amaral, who was appointed as the first consul general in Chengdu, Brazil, has started his duties at the new consulate general. Brazilian Ambassador to China Marcos Galvao, in his statement on the subject, emphasized that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil and that the consulate general opened in Chengdu has a special place at this important turning point. Galvao stated that he believes the consulate general will further develop cooperation between the two countries.
