The fire that broke out in agricultural land in Eceabat district of Çanakkale affected the Bosphorus traffic. The fire, which broke out in the Akbaş location near Kumköy on the Gallipoli Peninsula, also spread to the surrounding forest areas. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Air and Land Intervention Continues
Çanakkale Regional Directorate of Forestry teams were dispatched to the region to intervene in the fire. In the area where wind is also effective, teams continue their firefighting efforts from air and land. It is observed that smoke is rising in the surrounding settlements.
Dardanelles Strait Closed to One-Way Traffic
The General Directorate of Coastal Safety announced that ship traffic in the Dardanelles was temporarily suspended in one direction north-south due to the fire. It was stated that this decision was taken to control the fire and ensure safety.
