According to the news of Channel 7, which broadcasts in Israel, it was decided to release Amiram Ben-Uliel, who was sentenced to death by burning the Palestinian Devabishe family, from solitary confinement. This decision is connected to a tragic incident that took place on July 31, 2015 in the town of Duma, near the city of Nablus in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Ben-Uliel set fire to the Devabishe family home in Douma, killing 18-month-old Ali Devabishe and his parents. The only survivor was Ahmed Devabishe, who was only 4 years old at the time. The incident was carried out by fanatic Israelis who had usurped Palestinian lands.

Ben-Uliel was sentenced to life imprisonment for three murders, and a total of 27 years in prison for attempted murder and arson in a trial that ended in 2020. During the trial, Ben-Uliel’s defense that “his statement was obtained under torture” was unanimously rejected.

According to the decision, Ben-Uliel will be removed from solitary confinement on “humanitarian grounds” and held in a section reserved for “religious Jews”. It was stated that this was the result of the joint efforts of Israel’s internal intelligence agency Shin-Bet and some Zionist rabbis.

This incident is an important example of the internal dynamics in Israel and the complexity of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. One of Ben-Uliel’s defense attorneys is Itamar Ben-Gvir, the current leader of the Jewish Power Party and Minister of National Security responsible for law enforcement in Israel.
