Adapazarı Trade Museum Opened

The structure of the institution, which was established on March 9, 1913 under the name of Adapazarı Islamic Trade Bank and later changed to Turkish Trade Bank, opened its doors as Adapazarı Trade Museum after 111 years. The renovated version of this historical monument building presents Adapazarı’s rich trade history and cultural heritage to visitors from a broad perspective.

Adapazarı Mayor Mutlu Işıksu emphasized the importance of the museum created in the restored historical building of Adapazarı Islamic Trade Bank and stated that this center carries the values ​​of the past to the future and inspires young generations. Adapazarı Trade Museum exhibits important examples of economic history and trade culture with the contributions of Turkish Trade Bank.

Sakarya Governor Yaşar Karadeniz emphasized that the steps taken by the museum in 1913 played an important role on the path to Turkey’s economic independence, and stated that the opening of Adapazarı Islamic Trade Bank was an important milestone in gaining economic independence as well as political independence. This historical structure contributed to the development of the Turkish economy as one of the first steps taken while the country was struggling with occupation and economic difficulties.
