Izmir Regional Directorate of Forestry shared the fire situation that occurred in Izmir and Manisa provinces in 2024 with the public. In the statement, it was emphasized that there was a significant increase in fire cases due to increasing temperatures and drought. It was stated that fires occur frequently, especially in the summer months.
The fires that have broken out in many places in Izmir and Manisa since the beginning of June have been taken under control with the rapid and effective intervention of the Regional Directorate of Forestry teams. In the first six months of 2024, a total of 45 forest and rural fires occurred in Izmir and Manisa provinces.
In the statement made by the directorate, it was pointed out that high temperatures, low humidity and strong winds increase the risk of fire, and citizens were asked to be sensitive to fires. Warnings were made not to light fires, especially in forest areas, and not to throw cigarette butts into nature.
Thanking the teams working day and night in the fight against forest fires, Izmir Regional Directorate of Forestry invites citizens to be environmentally conscious and take the necessary precautions to prevent fires.
