The forest fire, which started yesterday in Manisa’s Salihli district, was taken under control with the intense work of the Forest Management Directorate and Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department teams. Due to the fire, two neighborhoods were evacuated and citizens were placed in guesthouses.

The fire occurred yesterday at around 11.50 in the forest area in Dibek Mountain, Salihli district. As smoke rose from the forest area, Forest Management Directorate and Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department teams were dispatched to the region. An intervention was initiated against the growing fire with 51 extinguishing teams, 9 aircraft, 9 work machines and 337 personnel. As a result of long efforts, the fire was brought under control this morning. Neighborhoods were evacuated because the fire, for which cooling efforts were continuing, threatened 2 neighborhoods.
In the statement made by Manisa Governorship, “The intervention continues with 51 extinguishing teams, 9 aircraft, 9 work machines and 337 personnel to the fire that broke out in the maquis area in Yağbasan District and Karasavcı District of Salihli district of our province. 2 of our neighborhoods have been evacuated for precautionary purposes, and citizens have returned to guesthouses and “3 of our personnel who were injured during the fire response were treated and discharged. Apart from our 3 personnel, no citizens were injured or lost their lives due to the fire. As of now, there is no danger in the settlements due to the fire.”
It was learned that Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek will go to the fire area and investigate. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
