Two students from the ‘6th Science C’ class, who graduated from Kırıkkale High School in 1971, found each other through social media approximately 50 years later. Two deskmates named Asuman Balak and Şahin Değ had emotional moments after agreeing to meet at Kuğulu Park in Ankara.
The Meeting That Happened After 50 Years
Taking advantage of the holiday, Asuman Balak came to Ankara from Marmaris with his family and met with Değ, who was his deskmate 50 years ago. The two talked to each other about the long time that had passed and reminisced about the old days. During the meeting, Balak and Değ, who had no difficulty in getting to know each other despite getting older over time, had emotional moments.
Asuman Balak, who took advantage of the holiday, stated that he came to Ankara from Marmaris to see both his family and his deskmate Değ 50 years ago, and said, “I have only one friend left here. He is both my classmate and my “We reminisce about the old days.” It was a great pleasure for us to meet and see each other after 50 years and talk about our spouses, children and grandchildren. In fact, since we had not seen each other for a long time, my friend said, “I have pink too,” and then I said to each other. “We shook hands and that’s how we met,” he said.
“We were so old that we could not recognize each other,” said Değ, adding, “After graduating from high school, one of his classmates reached out to the entire class on social media. Değ said, “One of our friends took it upon himself to find the locations of all our friends. Friends who graduated that year formed a WhatsApp group and we were meeting there. Then we met with those who had passed away in Ankara, but we had never seen my friend since ’71. It’s been over 50 years. I mean, of course, we changed, we gained weight, we got wrinkles everywhere, we got older, we couldn’t recognize each other, we recognized each other from our clothes. “We talked about the children, we talked about the grandchildren,” he said.
