National Security Meeting from the White House

Beyaz Saray'dan Ulusal Güvenlik Toplantısı

The White House announced that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will hold an important meeting with the national security team in the Situation Room at the White House. This meeting was held after the bodies of a total of 6 prisoners were found during the conflict in Gaza, including a dual American and Israeli citizen.

At the meeting, the future direction of the ceasefire process in Gaza and the efforts to release the prisoners were discussed in detail. In addition, the current situation regarding the ceasefire talks mediated by Qatar and Egypt and the progress of the negotiations were also comprehensively evaluated.

The Israeli army’s announcement that it found the bodies of 6 Israeli prisoners during the clashes in Gaza increased the urgency of the meeting. A platform created by the families of Israeli prisoners held in Gaza had recently held Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who continued the occupation of the Philadelphi Corridor on the Gaza-Egypt border line and the accused him of “undermining” the prisoner exchange agreements, responsible for the deaths of these 6 prisoners.

Prime Minister Netanyahu, on the other hand, emphasized his government’s determination to reach an agreement for the release of the remaining prisoners and claimed that Hamas was solely responsible for the failure to reach an agreement. However, US President Biden criticized Netanyahu, stating that he did not do enough for a ceasefire.
