Netanyahu’s Statements on the Gaza-Egypt Border Line

Netanyahu'nun Gazze-Mısır Sınır Hattındaki Açıklamaları

According to Israel’s Channel 12 television, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made important statements at his cabinet meeting regarding the Philadelphi Corridor of the occupying Israeli army on the Gaza-Egypt border line. Netanyahu: “We will not withdraw from the Philadelphia Corridor in 42 days or in 42 years.” He emphasized that this region is of critical importance for Israel’s security. Therefore, he argued, they should remain there permanently.

The general strike, organized to put pressure on the government to reach a prisoner exchange agreement with Palestinian groups, was described as “shameful” by Netanyahu. Netanyahu claimed that this strike benefited Hamas and claimed that the government took an attitude that undermined the prisoner exchange agreements.

Netanyahu’s “42 days” statement is one of the issues raised in the ongoing indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas. “The 42-day first phase of the ceasefire agreement”is stated to indicate. On the other hand, the occupying Israeli army announced that they found the bodies of 6 Israeli prisoners in a tunnel in the Rafah city of the Gaza Strip. Hamas, on the other hand, stated that these 6 Israeli prisoners lost their lives “in the Israeli bombardment that massacred the Palestinian people with American weapons.”

Through the platform they created, the families of Israeli prisoners held in Gaza held Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who “insisted on continuing the occupation of the Philadelphi Corridor on the Gaza-Egypt border line and undermined the prisoner exchange agreements”, responsible for the deaths of 6 Israeli prisoners. However, Netanyahu reiterated the government’s determination to reach an agreement for the release of the remaining captives and argued that Hamas was responsible for the agreement that could not be reached.
