Commissioner General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini, made important statements about the attacks of the occupying Israeli army in the West Bank. Lazzarini said that as a result of the attacks carried out since October 7, More than 150 children were martyredstated.

Lazzarini stressed that Israeli attacks in the northern West Bank continue to have a profound impact on Palestinian refugees in the region, particularly in the four refugee camps in the north, where tens of thousands of people face serious problems such as the destruction of infrastructure.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini reported that the agency had been forced to suspend its services in some refugee camps in the West Bank. On August 28, Israel announced that it had launched its most intensive and comprehensive attack on the refugee camps in the cities of Jenin, Tulkerim and Tubas in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, during the Second Intifada in 2002, called the “Summer Camps”.

Ongoing Attacks and Their Effects

Israeli soldiers, who withdrew from the Nur Shams Refugee Camp in Tulkerim after the al-Faria Refugee Camp in the city of Tubas, are still continuing their attacks on Jenin. These attacks have caused serious damage to the infrastructure of the region, 20 Palestinians were martyredand many people were injured.

In this context, Lazzarini’s statements draw the attention of the international community and once again highlight the need for urgent assistance and support.
