The Chairman of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group and AK Party Istanbul Deputy, who came to Baku to observe the general elections to be held on September 1 Samil DistinctionReceiving the delegation of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) headed by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, emphasized the importance of brotherly and strategic alliance relations between the two countries. Aliyev stated that Türkiye and Azerbaijan always stand by each other.
Making assessments on the developments in the region, Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan is in favor of establishing sustainable peace. He emphasized that in order to establish peace with Armenia, the territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the constitution of this country should be removed and the constitution should be changed.
Established to resolve the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)Stating that the Minsk Group should be dissolved, Aliyev said:
- “Armenia’s position on not dissolving the Minsk Group is incomprehensible. If the conflicts are in the past and the Armenian Prime Minister states that he supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, then what is the point of keeping the Minsk Group of the past?”
- “Apparently, Armenia is not interested in a peace agreement and establishing lasting peace in the region. Armenia is deliberately prolonging the process and is purchasing new weapons from Western countries, such as France, and conducting military exercises with third parties on its territory.”
Aliyev said that some Western organizations displayed an unfair attitude towards Azerbaijan and that the anti-Azerbaijani stance of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe was directly related to the efforts to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of his country.
Aliyev also touched upon the relations between Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), underlining their continuous support for the TRNC.
