Turkey’s “Steel Dome” Project
Turkey has been receiving widespread attention in the world with its “Steel Dome” Project, which it developed to protect its airspace and neutralize potential threats. This strategic step is considered a bold step taken by Turkey in the field of defense industry and has the potential to deeply affect both regional and international security balances.
According to analyzes on foreign defense websites, this innovative system, which Turkey calls “Steel Dome,” aims to be a significant deterrent force against Israel’s Iron Dome. With this project, Turkey aims to further advance its airspace protection capabilities and become one of the strategic balance elements in the region.

“It is reported that the system called Steel Dome will have an advanced artificial intelligence that will detect and neutralize threats from all heights and ranges. In addition, the graphics show that the layered air defense structure of the system will be connected to the satellite via a Turkish-made component called T-Link. “In addition to ASELSAN, Turkish defense industry companies Rocketsan, SAGE and Makina ve Kimya Endüstrisi Kurumu will also cooperate in this important project.”
The report emphasized that many components, including short- and medium-range systems, are in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces, and said, “When compared to Israel’s Iron Dome, it is stated that the ‘Steel Dome’ has a four- layered air defense system: very short-range, short-range, medium-range and long-range systems.”
“Steel Dome” stands out as a step towards creating a “unique” defense shield with domestic and national systems developed by Turkish companies in recent years. In this context, air defense systems such as KORKUT, HİSAR-A+, GÖKDEMİR, GÖKER, GÖKBERK, HİSAR-O+ and SİPER developed by ASELSAN will be utilized.
Equipped with many air defense weapon systems, radars, electro-optical systems, communication modules, command control stations and artificial intelligence, Çelik Dome aims to be Turkey’s strongest guard in the air defense field.
