Turkey’s Support to Greece in Fire Fighting

Turkey has sent two firefighting planes and a helicopter to support the fight against forest fires in Greece. These aircraft have landed at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport.

According to information received from diplomatic sources, the fires that started in the Varnava region near the capital Athens in Greece and spread to various parts of Attica due to strong winds have led to Turkey offering assistance. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan conveyed a message to the Athens administration stating that Turkey is ready to help Greece within the framework of good neighborly relations.

The Greek side stated that they would evaluate Turkey’s offer of assistance and could request support if needed. This process stands out as an indicator of friendly relations between the two countries.
