Normalization talks between Turkey and Armenia have resumed after a 2-year hiatus. The talks took place at the Alican-Margara Border Gate on the Turkey-Armenia border. Turkey’s Special Representative for the Armenia Normalization Process Ambassador Serdar Kılıç and Armenian National Assembly Vice President Ruben Rubinyan attended the meeting.
Convenience Agreement on Visa
During the meeting, the special representatives confirmed the previously agreed issues. They also agreed to assess technical needs and facilitate visa procedures for diplomatic/official passport holders in case the Akyaka/Akhurik Railway Border Gate becomes operational depending on regional developments.
It was stated that the special representatives also confirmed the agreement to continue this process without preconditions. It was emphasized that the aim is full normalization.
