In a statement published on Amnesty International’s official website, serious warnings were made about the US’s complicity in war crimes in Gaza. The statement stated that Amnesty International USA Executive Director Paul O’Brien harshly criticized the US government, saying “Enough is enough.”
Paul O’Brien O’Brien warned the US that Israel was using US-made weapons to commit war crimes and other unlawful acts, despite evidence from experts around the world. He stressed that continuing arms transfers would make the US complicit, and called on the US to fulfill its responsibilities against violations of international law.
O’Brien said Amnesty International’s research showed that Israel was using weapons it received from the US in violation of international law and human rights standards. He also cited the International Court of Justice’s assessment that Israel was violating international humanitarian law by using US weapons.
O’Brien called on US President Biden to suspend arms transfers to Israel and end its complexity in violations of international law. He also stressed that the daily lives of civilians in Palestine are at risk and that arms transfers to Israel must be stopped immediately.
Amnesty International warned that if the US continues to transfer weapons to Israel, it could lead to even greater disasters and illegal actions. O’Brien said Biden, who expressed concern about Israel’s actions in Rafah, should put more pressure on this issue.
